Srila Bhakti Rakshaka Sridhar Dev Goswami Maharaja

Lord Nityananda's representation as Ananta Sesa possesses unlimited mouths
which propagate and glorify Lord Hari's holy names and attributes. Ananta Sesa
constantly holds the weight of the Earth planet upon His innumerable hoods as if
it were an insignificant particle of dust. Ananta Sesa serves the Lord in various
capacities, manifesting as the Lord's personal umbrella, resting place, and
clothing. Let us eternally worship that great personality Sri Nityanandacandra,
who freely grants the association of Sri Gaurangadeva, who is none other than
Lord Krsna.

Compiled from Various Acharyas

I surrender unto the lotus feet of Sri Nityananda Rama, who is known as
Sankarsana in the midst of the catur-vyuha (consisting of Vasudeva, Sankarsana,
Pradyumna and Aniruddha). He possesses full opulences and resides in
Vaikunthaloka, far beyond the material creation.

The Supreme Lord Haladhara holds His thousand hoods like snakes. He is a
gigantic figure and the source of all inspiration. As Nityananda He is fully
transcendental and eternally existent, intoxicated by the nectar of Sri Caitanya.
Whoever sings or hears about Nityananda's supramundane character is offered
the supreme shelter of Lord Caitanya. Mahesa and his consort Parvatidevi take
great pleasure in eulogizing the object of their love - Sankarsana, Nityananda
Prabhu. In the midst of a million fresh young maidens, the pure devotee, Sri Siva,
and his consort pour out nectarean devotional hymns to Lord Sankarsana.

All this is revealed in the Fifth Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam. Balarama is
worshipped by the entire Vaisnava world with songs of praise. Balarama danced
with His gopis in Vrndavana, and their rasa dance is the pinnacle of sublimity.

Srila Bhaktivedanta Trivikrama Maharaja

We want to do what pleases us most. The liking for that activity is called ruci. Why
do we not like to love Krsna? Why do we not like to serve Him? This is the point of
this discussion. We like that which gives us pleasure through our senses; but
Krsna is such that He cannot be known by our senses. He is transcendental, and
therefore He transcends our senses. Our senses cannot know Him nor can they
reach Him. Through our senses, we cannot taste if He is sweet or not.

Because our senses can taste worldly things we either become attracted to those
things or we reject them. We never try to attain something that is not pleasing to
our senses. We do not like Krsna because we cannot perceive Him with our
senses. Our eyes cannot see Him, our ears cannot hear His flute-playing, our
nose cannot smell His flavor, and our tongues cannot speak His name or qualities.
Because it is all beyond our senses and we are not tasting His attractiveness, we
have no affection for Him. If we could taste Him, we could love Him. As long as we
cannot taste His sweetness, we are not attracted to Him and we cannot know if
He is good or bad.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura

Thakura Bhaktivinoda composed three very important books regarding the
transcendental realm of Sri Navadvipa Dhama -
(1) Sri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya (Parikrama Khanda)
(2) Sri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya (Pramana Khanda)
(3) Sri Navadvipa Bhava Taranga

The first book is used by many devotees from different branches of the Gaudiya
Sampradaya to assist their performance of parikrama, or circumambulation of the
holy places scattered over the 16 krosa (32 square miles) of this holy abode. The
second book contains the scriptural evidence concerning the location and
glorification of these holy places manifest in nine islands. And the third book (the
present volume) is an astonishing and enchanting description of Sri Navadvipa
Dhama as it appears to the bhava-siddha-nayana (eyes perfected in divine
ecstatic emotion) when seen in the state of bhakti-yoga-samadhi (absolute trance
in devotional service) . Although seemingly small in size (168 simple Bengali
verses) , the position of this work amongst the literatures of bhajana-giti
(devotional songbooks) is very, very exalted. Upon reading it only once, a loving
devotee will not be able to give it up.
