Q. How do we know that Lord Nityananda constantly chants the Holy Name of Lord Gauranga?
A. by Swami Gaurangapada:
niravadhi karilena shri krishna chaitanya sankirtana
karayena, karena laiya bhakta gana
Chaitanya Bhagavata 3.5.329
Translation: "Lord Nityananda would constantly engage in Shri Krishna Chaitanya Sankirtana i.e. the constant
chanting of the glories of Lord Gauranga's Holy Names and Pastimes. Not only did He incessantly engage in
Gauranga Sankirtana, but He made all devotees do it and He Himself would perform it by taking His devotees
with Him."
In this above verse the words "karayena", "karena" and "niravadhi" are most significant. Shrila Vrindavana
dasa Thakura uses the word "karayena" meaning that Lord Nityananda Prabhu was extremely anxious that all
devotees engage in one-pointed Shri Krishna Chaitanya or Gauranga Sankirtana. Thus He used to personally
induce "karayena" all devotees to chant the glories of Lord Gauranga's Holy Name and Pastimes without any
exception and option.
One can see here the unparalleled mercy of the most merciful incarnation of God for all time to come Lord
Nityananda Prabhu, by understanding how He personally took the trouble of inducing His devotees and all spirit
souls in creation to take up the chanting and glorification of the Holy Name and Pastimes of Lord Gauranga
Mahaprabhu.
A question may be raised that why Lord Nityananda-Balarama Himself has to personally take this trouble of
inducing others to chant the Name and Pastimes of Lord Gauranga? He is present in everyone's heart as the
Supersoul (Paramatma), Who is His partial plenary expansion. He can inspire from within any soul simply by His
desire to chant the Holy Name of Gauranga.
No, but He is not satisfied by doing that. He wants to directly approach the devotees and the fallen conditioned
souls to take up the Holy Name of Gauranga. Lord Nityananda's love for Gauranga Sankirtana is so great that
He wants to personally distribute this most confidential and concealed treasure to one and all in Kali Yuga. He
Himself feels the topmost happiness by personally carrying out this mission of spreading Lord Gauranga's Name.
He also wants to show by His example as He is the Adi Guru or Akhanda Guru Tattva which means the original
Guru of all Gurus and Instructors in creation. Lord Nityananda is preaching Gauranga Nama-Lila-Sankirtana
personally so that all Gurus following His footsteps in the future who will act as His representatives and will
follow the same principle and preach and spread Gauranga Nama and Lila Sankirtana all over creation. Those
Gurus who forget this principle order to constantly practice and preach Gauranga Nama and Lila Sankirtana,
given by their own Lord Nityananda Who has given them the very authority and power to become Guru, should
again take it up and achieve the causeless mercy of Lord Nityananda to the fullest extent.
All knowledge which teachers teach in this world comes from Lord Nityananda Prabhu. And you see what
knowledge Lord Nityananda is practicing and preaching! It is Gauranga Nama and Lila Sankirtana. It is the
summum bonum and culmination of all knowledge and realization. That is why Lord Nityananda Himself is
ceaselessly practicing and preaching Gauranga-Nama-Lila-Sankirtana.
The word "karena" is also very significant because Lord Nityananda is teaching by His example. He is not
making a show. He is preaching Gauranga Nama-Lila Sankirtana because He knows it is most pleasing to Lord
Gauranga. Lord Nityananda can never displease Lord Gauranga even for a second. Lord Nityananda is
demonstrating by His own example how to drown oneself in Gauranga-Nama-Lila Sankirtana. Nothing else is
required. Shri Shri Radha-Krishna get effortlessly captured in our heart if we dive deep into Gauranga
Nama-Lila-Sankirtana. It is only way for the fallen conditioned souls of Kali Yuga to approach Shri Shri
Radha-Krishna. All other processes are complicated and risky and may result in dusta phala arjana...attaining
only the sour and bitter fruits of bhakti.
Lord Nityananda fully knows all these truths as He is Truth Personified. That is why He is practicing and
preaching Gauranga Nama and Lila Sankirtana. Someone may say in the future, see He is only preaching not
following. So the word "karena" is very significant. He is doing both achara and prachara of Gauranga
Sankirtana. That is why He is truly the only Jagadguru.
"karena" also means He is doing both practicing and preaching and He wants us to do the same. Not just
personally get delivered by performing incessant Gauranga Nama-Lila Sankirtana but ceaselessly induce others
to do it also. Then one will get the full mercy of Lord Nityananda Prabhu.
Krishna Sankirtana is included in Shri Krishna Chaitanya Sankirtana because Radha Krishna have become
Krishna Chaitanya or Gauranga. So there is no difference. But there is more mercy because no offenses and
qualifications are considered. Lord Nityananda is the personification of this Truth about Gauranga Sankirtana so
He is vigorously preaching it all over the universe. And anyone who takes up the process of Gauranga Nama Lila
Sankirtana on His request or on the request of His representatives will become most dear to Him. Lord
Nityananda will rush to embrace that soul and give the soul eternal shelter at Lord Gauranga and Shri Shri
Radha Krishna's lotus feet. Even gopi bhava is given by Lord Nityananda.
So please simply try to become dear to Lord Nityananda by doing what He wants us to do "karayena". And how
to do it? "niravadhi" and "bhakta sange". Constantly chant Gauranga Nama Lila Sankirtana and in the
association of like-minded devotees of Nityananda Gauranga.
Do not think that association means to merely sit together in physical proximity. No, now you are reading this
Gaura katha, that is also association. This is the topmost form of association. To associate and hear from
Nityananda Bhaktas and Gauranga Bhaktas. That will grant us strong faith in this order of Lord Nityananda to
tirelessly chant and preach the chanting of Gauranga Nama Lila Sankirtana. That is the only medicine of Kali
Yuga. Let us happily follow Nitai's order. There is no sorrow, simply ever-increasing bliss to gain in return of
following His order to all souls. Please do not ignore or neglect this Gauranga Kirtana of Kali Yuga. Kali pavana
gaura raso hi rasah...Gauranga Nama-Lila Rasa is the only actual Rasa in Kali Yuga since it is accessible and can
be relished by even the great sinful offenders and atheists in this world. Krishna Kirtana Rasa alone has
become unpalatable and inaccessible to the grossly offensive and materialistic souls of Kali Yuga so Gauranga
Kirtana Rasa is their only hope to get Krishna Kirtana Rasa.
The culmination of the order of Lord Nityananda as given in this verse is to chant and preach "niravadhi"
without stoppage the Holy Name and Pastimes of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu, the Lord and life and soul of
Lord Nityananda. When one reaches the stages of "niravadhi" i.e. forgets eating, sleeping everything else to
chant and preach Gauranga Nama Lila (Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata) Sankirtana, then one attains permanent
shelter at Nitai Pada Kamala i.e. at the two soft lotus feet of Lord Nityananda under Whom the whole creation
is resting. Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!
