Authentic Japa Meditation
                              Authentic Silent Meditation
                                       Authentic Kirtan Meditation
                              Authentic Writing Meditation
In Authentic Japa Meditation the ever fluctuating mind is trained to behave in a
specific order and rhythm. During Japa the mind becomes focused on and absorbed in
the transcendental vibrations and  meanings of the mantras. For many it is more
effective than any other hasty method of meditation. With Japa you learn to stop all
other dissimilar thoughts and currents.
On these pages you will find the official instruction in Authentic Silent Meditation. If
you ever felt rushed during Japa you will love the quiet of the internalization of the
Holy Names. For TM-ers (and PSM-ers) it is the natural next step of your spiritual
progress. You will instantly experience that no transcendental perception is complete
without the inclusion of the Supreme Source of all transcendental variety.

Vaishnava Tantra: "Writing the Mantra with full concentration is one hundred times
more beneficial and powerful than Japa Yoga chanting because pralekhana (writing)
forces the mind to deeply focus on the syllables of the Mantra which are completely
non-different from the Mantri (Lord) Himself and the process of Mental Japa
Meditation automatically takes place by this Writing Yoga."

Four Types of Authentic Meditation
Kirtan, also known as sankirtan, is the call-and-response singing of the Holy Names
of the Lord. The roots of kirtan go back over 500 years to Renaissance India. During
this period the influence and style of kirtan became the focal point for religious
expression in Bengal led by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. This joyful mood quickly
spread throughout India and via Srila Prabhupada throughout the world.
